It’s no secret that the social media industry is forever changing. In the last year, photo content evolved into video content, with all the evidence coming from TikTok blowing up during lockdown. Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, stated that the platform is no longer just a photo-sharing app. Now is the time to capitalise on video content and grow your personal brand.
Here are some strategies to help you get better results with Instagram Reels and video content:
1. Video Content is Key
Video content is key in growing your following and engagement. You should be posting a reel at least once or twice a week. Instagram's algorithm is currently pushing all video content meaning that your reel will be prioritized and pushed to the top of your follower's feed and shown on the explore page. I know two reels a week sounds like a lot, but we’ve got you. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
• Educational videos
• Day in the life
• Behind the scenes content
• Answer some frequently asked questions
Over the past few years, the ‘influencer’ industry has changed drastically. The influencer market is saturated and filled with fake followers and likes. This has led brands to turn their attention to micro-influencers (here at Scout we like to call them ambassadors). Brands are looking for ambassadors that have the same values and niches as they do, people who genuinely love their products. And how does video content help with this, you ask? Video content is more authentic than just a static post of a product. It allows your audience to see you using and interacting with the product.
Now is the time to get creative and show brands what type of content you can create for them.
There are so many different social media platforms, and ambassadors must have a strong brand presence on each of them. Instagram is still the biggest influencer marketing platform to date, but don’t neglect your other platforms. You just spent so much time and effort on creating perfect reels for your Instagram, why not share them onto other platforms as well. This will maximise each piece of content you create. Brands are also demanding campaigns that are diversified across multiple platforms to increase their reach of different audiences. Just watch out for the different video orientations and sizes on multiple platforms to make sure your content remains high quality.
4. Be Creative
Now is the time to be creative. Try to create videos that you know your audience will love and engage with. Don’t copy other content creators – find a niche that you truly love and create great content. This doesn’t mean ignoring current trending videos or audio sounds as they also receive a lot of engagement. Stay true to your brand and your audience will naturally grow.
Now is the time to unlock your personal brands potential and create great content.
